Glue removers with d-limonene from the hardware store would work. You might not like the smell, but it should wash out in a few days. Vegetable oil might have some effect. Drug-store mineral oil is odorless and harmless and definitely should
dissolve a little wax at a time. I think that is the best thing to try first.

Whereas a hair dryer is great for removing wax on a hard surface, many people ask me about how to remove wax from table cloths, carpets, and other fabrics. An iron is the solution for removing wax from fabric. Place newspaper on both sides of the fabric (or on top of the carpet), to blot up the wax once it melts from ironing over the newspaper with a medium-hot iron. Replace newspaper as needed.

Ice cube, freeze the wax, and pick it off with your finger nail.

I have used conditioner and took a comb and combed it out. It really does work! My daughter had dreads and had the wax in it to.

Hot water as hot as you can stand
If that doesn't do it....heat it with a hair drier and use a cloth with a bit of kerosene on it...
Then wash with hot water and strong soap (ie: dish detergent)

Veggie or Canola oil... just rub it on and rinse it off!
