I just don't want to wind up being one of those really loose women after having my baby. My fiance likes how I feel now, don't want that to change.

Kegel Exercises

Kegel Exercises
Both males and females have a group of pelvic floor muscles called PUBOCOCCYGEAL MUSCLES, (PC Muscles.) As we age, or after pelvic surgery, after a pregnancy, these muscles lose muscle tone". This can result in incontinence (loss of bladder control), hemorrhoids, lower back pain, a loose "sloppy vagina", reduction of sexual pleasure, and inability to slow ejaculation.

These are a series of exercises you can do to strengthen your pubococcygeal muscles. Do them frequently and regularly and you will notice a difference quite quickly.

For starters, have a full bladder, go to the bathroom, start to urinate, then quickly tighten and stop the flow of urine. Start to urinate again, stop, start and stop. If this is difficult, the message is clear, get with the program. From now on, every time you urinate, start and stop repeatedly. This is called "THE FAWCET" and while it may take a long time to pee, you will soon notice you have much better control. Some research says the FAWCET does not work to tighten PC muscles, but women I talk to say it definitely does. Besides, it can't hurt.

Here are other exercises you can do which will help:

Whenever you are driving, while waiting for a green light, or at a Stop sign, try to tighten all your PC muscles, anal, vaginal and urethral, back to front and front to back. Tighten, slowly hold the tension for one to two seconds, then slowly release each area. Do this "WAVE" whenever you are in traffic, or seated at your desk.

Another exercise is the "ELEVATOR". Imagine you are on a genital elevator. Slowly contract your pelvic muscles, lift and tighten, one floor at a time to the 10th Floor. Hold for a count of 10. Then relax at each every floor all the way down.

There are “sexercisers” available that look like a stapler with a strong spring. You insert the lubricated sexerciser onto the vagina and squeeze your PC muscles to close the open end. These exercises must be repeated frequently. Also, small “barbell” shaped exercisers are becoming popular.

Women should start these exercises early in pregnancy or after surgery. Repeat 12 to 20 contractions, three times a day.

A fringe benefit, females who do Kegels regularly will improve genital muscle tone so, during intercourse, she can clamp down on her partners penis which will increase both their sexual pleasure.

These exercises are now being recommended for males who are experiencing sexual dysfunction. While the penis is not a muscle, the increased muscle tone will improve blood supply to his genital area, and may result in firmer erections. Some males are able to contract their PC muscles just prior to ejaculation so they are able to have a dry orgasm without losing their erection.

Like any other muscle group, you either "use it or lose it". Just think…"adult diapers" and that will motivate you.

Kegels. Just like other posters have said. Now and after the baby is born.

Episiotomies will not improve your sex life after or make you less likely to tear during birth. Try to find a doctor or midwife that has a low epsiotomy rate.

if it does change you need to do kegals but usually it does not change. usually the doc cuts the vagina so your muscles never really stretch and the parts that do stretch always go back to the same size. all honesty i was so worried about that too like it being a mess down there but after i had my daughter i had alot of stitches and it made it even better after delivery, like you would not believe it and my daughter is 2 almost 3 and my guy loves it. dont worry it will probably be even better!!

You'd better get a c-section then cause no matter what you do, it will never be the same. You could try kegel exercises, but again, it won't get back to it's pre-baby tightness. Sorry!

Well, I have had four children and my husband says it tighter now than ever before so it must be the kegals. My youngest is almost 3 and I still do them regularly. He especially likes it when I do them during sex.

KEGELS! (I may have spelled it wrong.) It basically where you "flex" your muscles in that area. The way to do them is to pretend like you are going to the bathroom and are trying to stop yourself from it. They really do work and you can do them anywhere and nobody has to know!

It doesn't change. Huge myth. If worse comes to worse ask the Dr to throw an extra stitch in :)
