My house is clean, and I don't have trash laying around and I am kinda insulted that you think that is the only reason to have flies.
I live in a small country town and it is a 100 + degrees daily and everyone here has this problem, not just me.
The glue things don't work. Any more suggestions now that you know I am not just a slob with flies.

And just ignore the urban trolls! They wouldn't stand a chance living in the country.

One other thing. I've never tried them but Tractor Supply has a *bunch* of anti-fly stuff in the horse section. If you can't find the stuff in my other answer that may be an option for you.

Lastly, whilst typing all this out I remembered that before the Safers we used to spray Deep-Woods Off all over our patio and around the doors to keep them from getting inside. It does help a bunch but will eventually screw up the paint and vinyl around the doors.

First of all, you don't pay taxes for people to get rid of your fly problem. Though if it is a community concern like they are carrying disease, then that's what you pay taxes for. Almost all insects and for the most part animals hate citronella, their are citronella coils that you can get that release a smoke into the room, very faint, but again flies hate it along with most other pests. There are pesticides that can be used to simply kill the flies as they buzz around, but they are usually a bit harsh. The best way to keep flies from coming into your home is to hang a lure outside your home. A lure trap lures flies to it and then traps them inside, usually is a plastic bag, and if everyone has alot of flies around their you're gonna have a pretty full bag very fast.

I didn't get in on your first question, but I have the same problem. So much so, that the flies are drawing blood out of our dogs ears. So, I'd be interested in what others would suggest. I've thought about, buying one of those bug zappers, but I'm not sure how they would work with this problem. Sorry, no great advice here. I'll be watching though.

You are not a slob just because you have a problem with flies - whoever said that is a total moron. Get in touch with your county extension service - this is what a person pays taxes for.
