why do people let there kids get fat?

okay loser parents why do you continue to feed your child?
i mean you know when they get older there gonna be at risk for all these bad things + not have any friends live a horrible life and be made fun of?

parents should go to jail for feeding there children, if there wasa way to make alaw on this i would do it.

you people are mean and hurting your kids. oh my 4 year old is 50 pounds you loser your killing your children.

I ask myself the same thing. You are ruining your kids. If yhey help them when they are younger they dont have to worry about them being obese when they get older,. I think the parents should be punished, they are the ones that are gone to have to deal with their kids being teased.

You really need to make sure of what you are talking about. There are those out there that do feed the childern the wrong foods. But there are those that have medical problems that cause them to be that way, Just cause you have a small child does not give you the right to talk about someone elses child. It really shows what kind of person you are. And the way I see it right now the way things are If kids make fun of a over weight kid then it is the parents who need to teach them. Or is the reason you wrote this is cause you were fat as a child. I think that you are a women that needs to really grow up. I know that if you teach your child to laughat over weight kids then you are wrong.You are the losser here your question should have been done in better taste not rude and disresceptful. I think you are making sweeping generalizations that you are not qualified to make. I saw your remark on another question about a car seat that the woman's 4 year old was fat. Do you know how tall he is? If not then how can you possibly be qualified to call him fat. My son is large for his age but I ask his pediatrician every time we see him and my son is not fat, just tall for his age which in turn means he weighs more than your average 2 year old.

Yes there are parents who overfeed their children, absolutely, and there should be more focus on it. And yes, Childhood obesity is a problem that needs to be addressed asap. But to call the parents losers and to say the children will have a horrible life is not the way to do it. I know there are states now that are considering severe obesity to be child abuse and that is a fantastic step forward. Hopefully re-educating the parents will be part of that.

Perhaps you should focus on your implants and credit issues and while you are at it, decide which you are, 18 or 24?????

I have to tell this. My boyfriend has 2 teenage boys. When they had their childhood photos taken in kindergarten, they were both thin. In their 4th grade photos they were both clearly over weight. When they got into Jr. High, both of them were obese as hell.
Their mother was about 350 lbs the first time I ever seen her. She was huge, so clearly they were all over eating something terrible.
The mother went and had bariatric surgery about 2 years ago, so now she is down to about 150 lbs. The 2 teenage boys are still huge.
SO whatya think happened. She gave the 2 boys their eating habits, then decided to jump ship and leave 2 fat boys to fend for themselves after she had surgery to keep from stuffin her face. Not fair is it. I think that is child abuse.
There were 7 kids in my family, and we did not stuff our faces with McDonalds and all that crappy food because my parents could not afford it. We had nutritious meals and ate when we were called to the table. We worked hard and video games and TV were not allowed in our house. None of us were fat. A lot of kids today are overweight because they lay around and watch TV and play video games. Not as much is expected from them as when I was growing up. Parents always have flimsy excuses for the fat little kids running around.

ok first of all some children cant help it even if they eat nothing at all they still get fat...its called A DISEASE..ya most of the time thats not the case but dont just assume that because every child that is slightly bigger than you 50 pound child is overweight...and to tell parents to stop feeding their children is called child abuse...what u should be saying is get your children (and themselves to be good role models) on a healthy diet and eating good food regularly...and exercise!!

Your law would never pass. Why? because school districts on tight budgets feed the kids cheap, crappy meals, and the higher school taxes needed for good, balanced, nutritious meals would start a revolution.
Fast food giants would hire the best lawyers to fight your law so that they can continue raking in the dough while poisoning us with their garbage food.

I couldn't agree more, these lousy parents are just putting their children at risk, and the majority of these parents are over weight themselves. And yes there should be a law on this, its not the child's fault its the parent's fault for letting it happen.

Usually the parent is also over weight or simply just out of touch. Or they find it easier to give the kid whatever he wants as opposed to taking a stand.

Because they don't care obviously. Too uneducated, overworked and underpaid to have any chance to balance things out. Too much damn stuff too do and too overtaxed and they don't live within a decent budget to allow any mobility for the family and for their recreation. Life in USA is hard, admit it. And it's increasingly getting harder at lightning speed.
