To realize what you are asking just means you have not been sucked into the marketing belief "you need a truck!!".

Past work and hauling a truck is worthless. It 'hauls' less people than most cars. Drinks gallons of gas, has big tires that break the bank and for some reason people feel big and strong in them. Guess its a lack of self esteem?

The few times people actually use their pick up to actually haul stuff..it would be cheaper to own a car and just rent a $19.95 uhaul pick up for the day few times a year.

This way dirt, mulch, etc is in a uhaul truck and not yours.

if you get a small truck, say something like an s-10 Chevy or a ford ranger with a v-6 or 4 cylinder engine, and an extended cab or quad cab , they can be very universal in my opinion.you can haul people and groceries just like in a car, and you can haul other things like lumber or furniture or the trash without getting things dirty. because you can wash out the back of a truck bed at a car wash and not the trunk of a car.also if you ever want to travel down a dirt road, pickups sit higher than cars and are less likely to get damaged on the under side like you would in a car from big rocks or even ditches or whatnot. and not having one but needing one can be a pain because you will have to rent one or have a good friend that will let you borrow one.

Lots of times. I need to buy an extension ladder, but how do I get it home in a Nissan 200sx? Ditto for furniture. I need to run up to the local stable a couple of times a year for manure for my garden. It's cheaper to go get the mulch I need rather than have it delivered.

On the other hand, I like the Nissan's gas mileage, and I don't have so much disposable income that I want another vehicle (rather be spending it to ski). So I just ask friends when I need to haul something.

Depends on your age and situation. I just graduated college. I'm looking for a house and might be getting married soon after that. So, I will be needing to haul a lot of stuff in the not so distance future. Thus, I bought a Ram.

Great for pulling the camper or the boat, not to mention trailers. The four wheel drive sure comes in handy during the winter and rainy season. Have you ever been to an auction and found the perfect china hutch, buffet... it sure is hard to get that sucker home in an S.U.V. Not to mention just about every trip I take to home depot pretty much requires a truck to get it home in. How about fishing gear...do you want that inside the vehicle with you? I guess it really depends on where you live and what you do.

i recognize, that is somewhat humorous to work out a collection of finished length pickups using round and infrequently hauling something. in case you insist on using a V8 gas hog motor vehicle a minimum of get something thrilling and funky like a muscle motor vehicle. The smaller vehicles like S10's and Rangers are about an similar as a touch motor vehicle and some have 4cyls, so as it really is comprehensible.

not that often really. however, you get a pick up, it will be useful for all of your relatives, so think about it before getting one, may be of more use for others than it may be for you.
