Gonna go with Gambit and Rogue
Reasons: Gambit-What's not to love about the bad boy "Ragin Cajun"? He can talk a good game, but like all superheros, hes got his soft side
Rogue: Powerwise. she's one of the toughest members of the team since skin to skin contact causes her to gain her opponents abilities. Of course, we all know the drawbacks to that power, but whats a good character w/o angst?

Male? Ice Man and Cyclops are kool so is Wolverine
Female? I like Shadow Cat, Jean and Rogue.
But since I'm supposed to answer the best alone in my opinion I choose Shadow Cat n IceMan My favorites!
