A professional driver or a test driver for a manufacturer requires an engineering degree.

When I was 18 I wanted to be a test driver for Honda since I live so close to one of their plants. After realizing I needed 6 years of engineering school just to drive a car around a track fast, I found an alternate career.

Still in cars but in the finish, paint sector instead.
