If you mean TOXIC? It might mean like, calling too much, or visiting to the point YOU can't get what YOU need done?

Tonic is actually interesting.

The word tonic is from "tonia" -- Latin for "stopping." Tonic can also be a medicine, but it's rather a misnomer. It doesn't refer to the illness it stops, but rather the function of the liquid. Weird.

Anyhow, tonic means to not move. A tonic friend could be stressed or aggressively stubborn.
