I think that NASCAR should get back to its roots, turn them loose in a Stock car with a roll cage and let them run that with no modifications....it is getting too commercial

No, because the cars aren't stock now. The only thing that makes the 'stock cars' are the bodies. They bodies actually follow templates anyway, which aren't anything like the street car. The only thing the Car of Tomorrow is doing is making the car safer for the driver while attempting to make the racing better on the track.

It is obviously hard to predict what the impact of the COT will be on NASCAR, but I expect because of the technology behind its deisgn, the COT will in all liklihood improve the racing we are seeing. Having said that, one of the founding principles of "stock car racing" is that the different manufacturers were competing against each other. When every driver is out there running around in Bandolero cars, it's going to have an impact on a lot of the long running rivalries out there. Putting the right headlight stickers on a car doesn't make it a Ford or a Dodge and sometimes good racing on the track isn't enough to keep a sport at the top. (see IRL for proof)

Yes and no. The COT will help improve racing at the restrictor plate tracks, but tracks like Cali, Michagin, Pocono, will only get worst. I love lots of lead changes. The changes NASCAR has made will take away from the outside passing and cars being able to battle back. I truly hope I am wrong, but everything I have read about it and driver comments states this information.

I think it will. I am not looking forward to the car of tomorrow at ALL. It seems NASCAR is taking ten steps back with this one.
In the aspect of the spoiler alone, I watch NASCAR because I can identify the car I drive (and it's spoiler) with the vehicle I drive each and every day. The car of tomorrow takes that away from me and I do not like it.

you mean more so then now??? look at the cars they race today
,,can you recognize one type of car from another without the numbers and decals on them??? they all look alike,,when they started letting GM run the front wheel drive Lumina race with rear wheels and a V-8,,they openned the door to anything,,use to be what you seen on the show room floor is what they raced on Sunday's(rear wheel drive V-8s,,not front wheel drive V-6's,4 door cars!!),,pretty soon you will see the car being driven by remote control by a driver sitting in an air-conditioned tralier,, NASCAR is not what is used to be!! now with Toyota coming into racing,,there goes the American tradition!!

if it really does anything to the sport it will make it better....i think were going to see alot more diffrent drivers start to win races....its going to make it where a 1 team driver has pretty much the same equipment as the big teams(Roush, Hendrick, ect..).....and the term stock car means that everything on the car is available to the general public

I remember the ealry days when Mopar came out with the wierd looking plymouth vee and the dodge charger 500gt You know the ones with the weird wings. Super Vee....
In those days an auto mfg Had to build at least 500 of a certain model to allow that model to compete in any races.

Not really...I mean, it seems like we're going back to the future more than anything....these are boxy like the 80's and early 90's cars...it'll make better racing...and they look more stock than the sleek cars now...

well my opinion of that is no not for a long time. the tech in the car might change but not the whole thing. in the future i can picture a couple different cars being used but not a complete change.(that is big) i takes a LLLOOONNNGGG time to change a whole sport. like look at basket ball it has changed little or none at all over the long time it has been know to the world!!well i hope that helps?
