get it to a vet anyhow, most vets will let you make payments.just make sure to make those payments so that if another problem arises, you can return, and so you don't ruin it for other people and thier pets who are in your same situation.

First of all, raise the water temp to 80F using a water heater (fish) or a portable space heater. The basking temps can be raised to 95F by bringing the basking lamp closer. The increased temps will help the turtle's immune system.

It may be too late already for assitance. When you see turtles take a turn for the worst, it is often too late and bringing it to a vet may do nothing.

Some hatchling turtles are never meant to make it and it's part of mother nature's plan. Even with the best care, the turtle will die off.

If you think the vet will help, call one up and explain your situation. Vets are humans and will offer solutions. Often they will accept lay-away plans.

Good luck.

This is very serious. His tank needs to be kept extremely clean...not just a powerful filter, but frequent water changes as well. He needs a warm basking spot with a heat lamp made for reptiles and kept at least 90 degrees all day (off at night). He needs a full spectrum UVB bulb to live, and this needs to be on all day as well. These bulbs need to be changed every 6 months. He needs a night heat lamp (no white light) or ceramic heater at night to keep warm. Sliders can live for over 20 years and become as big as a dinner plate. You need to provide the best in food and housing for him. It would be best to take him to a reptile vet as soon as possible in order to not risk losing him. Go to http://anapsid.org and research more info. Good luck! :)

This is very serious matter. There tanks need to be cleaned regularly plus filtering system should be big enough to handle 3 time capacity of tank. Without sounding harsh this is a subject that really upsets me. People buying pets that they can not really afford to take care of is such a injustice to the animal. Don't buy animals just because they are cute or just for something to do you need to realize that there is alot more to caring for a pet then buying it food and there health care is one of those things that should be considered before buying a pet.
