No, unless the nuclear war is going to last for an eternity. You see when christians go to Heaven for eternity, non-christians will go to Hell for eternity, so when The Bible say's 'fire and brimstone' it means exactly that. It's not a metafore.

They are referring to Hell.

Revelation 20:10

The devil, who deceived them, was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone where the beast and the false prophet are. And they will be tormented day and night forever and ever.
