Because it's a time of development when teens are truly discovering themselves for the the first time. They're slowly coming to terms with their own identities and desires, and their hormonal development also causes their conflicted feelings. On one hand, they want to be independent and begin carving their own way through the world, but on the other hand, they're scared and overwhelmed at the thought of actually doing that. That usually manifests itself in irrational rebellion, with teens doing whatever they can think of to assert their new thoughts and attitudes. Unfortunately, those thoughts and attitudes generally conflict with what's best for them (since teens are very impressionable, and they, often'times, tend to be drawn towards the romanticism of a self-destructive lifestyle), and with what their parents want. It doesn't help that parents have a hard time, what with the insane speed that kids are growing up nowadays, keeping up with them.

Cause they wanna be their own person. And make mistakes and decisions for themselves. the problem is that parents usually have to fix the mistakes made by their teens. So all u can do is wait until they are 18 or let them act grown now and do and take care of everything themselves. then they will appreciate the things u do for them. Trust me i know cause it has happened to me w/ my parents.

Because the parents did something when the teens were still kids, that was bad. Something other than what the kids may seem to be upset about.

because parents dont take the time or make an effort to get to know their kids...teens are always on restriction all that restriction is not always necessary......if the parent took time w teen things would probably not rebell as much.......
