great question. Coincidentally I was just outside a few minutes ago gazing at the stars! It's strange but looking up and seeing the vastness and wonder of space actually stops all my thoughts. It always has. Maybe it's being in the presence of such beauty or seeing something so mind-boggling that the mind just stops it's chattering bcoz it's unable to grasp it all. I dunno. Space is such a wonderful mystery. Looking at it you get the sense that there is so much more to life and ourselves. I almost feel like I could be pulled up in it. Like there is an attraction or pull that if I concentrated enough I could just dissolve and merge with space. Sounds weird but what the hey.
and when thoughts do finally enter in(in a mad rush) I think about the possibility of life on other planets. I think of how strange it is this earth being a tiny part of the universe and what is this all about? I imagine looking at the earth from the moon and going even further and further away until it can't be seen at all. The sense of wonder; it's amazing! It's too much to fully grasp but it's always great to ponder over.
"The most beautiful thing we can experience is the mysterious. It is the source of all true art and all science. He to whom this emotion is a stranger, who can no longer pause to wonder and stand rapt in awe, is as good as dead: his eyes are closed." --Albert Einstein

When I gaze into the night sky I see beauty beyond recognition. especially if the stars are a haze around the moon. I watch the sky every night. Because the star for tell stories old and new. Someday when the time is right I would like to have a star named after a certain women. I will call it shinu. It means the love in you.

Well, usually the only time I can actually see the stars is when I am out in the middle of nowhere- in the mountains or in the desert. It is so quiet you can almost hear music coming from the stars.
When I look up at them I think about how far away they are. I try to imagine how long it would take to get to one. I think about how some of the stars that I see do not even exist anymore; it's just the reflection from their once-being that has taken so many light years to reach my dazzled eyes.
I try to find constellations and remember the stories and myths about them. I try to see the shapes of animals and other things our ancestors pictured in their unjaded minds.
But mostly I just keep my mind free of thoughts, letting it be open for communion with the heavens.

"Conservatives" are chock full of hate and fear. They hate and fear Muslims, minorities, the LGBT community, our own government, scientific study, math, folks who don't believe in the same sky fairy, diplomacy, democracy, union workers, women, and this could really go on, and on, and on...

Peace... absolute peace. May sound strange, but I don't think about anything and I just feel at peace.
