Any guy can be a father, but it takes a real man who is ready to own up to the responsibilities and show the love to be a dad. I have cut off all relations with my "father" because he is a horrible person and caused major torment in my life. I have a stepdad who is my "Dad" because he is responsible and loves me as if I were his own. Big difference between the two.

This is JUST an opinion, but when I think of the word "father", I think of someone you respect -- look up to as a role model and an authority figure. When I think of the term "dad", I still picture the respect and role model figure, but I also see a friend who you can have fun with and who you can share anything with -- someone who will help you out with problems because they've been there and they understand, whereas a father seems more likely to just tell you what you SHOULD HAVE done. Hope that makes sense....

The dictionary says they mean the same thing but society has separated the two terms.
A father is someone who donates a sperm. A dad is someone who may or may not have donated his sperm to the female but plays the role of a parent, rolemodel and friend as well to a child.

farther is uninvolved, the provider, tied up in work, uninterested. stirn, a piller of stone, outwardly uncaring or harsh.
a dad is involved and openly loves. balances providing with family. family comes first. his family is his life. he cares about his children and they are on his mind when he is working. he worries about them and guides them with love always and discipline only when needed. he treasures his wife above all and is openly, unashamedly in love with her alone with her and in front of the children. a dad is a spiritual leader who guides the growth of his child's spirit as well as the child's mind and body. the relationships we have with our children and model for them will ultimately affect their relationship with God later in their life and eternity. Be a dad. Love your children!
