No ID, no crossing the border. Especially without your parents. You need your birth certificate at least. Even with them.

South Padre is a lot of fun...If your parents are with you you do not need a drivers license or passport at this time. If you do not have your parents with you then you need a certified paper that gives your adult sponsor permission to go into Mexico with you.
Currently it is not safe to go into Matamorus, Mexico because of the drug wars. The only safe place right now is Nuevo Pragresso, Mexico.
They are also busting underage people who appear drunk when they return to the USA they are put in jail and fined $200. They did a raid last spring and if anyone even said they had a beer with their meal they were busted.
Be for warned about going into Mexico.
IF YOU ARE A BLOND BLUE EYED YOUNG GIRL DO NOT EVER GET SEPERATED FROM YOUR GROUP. YOU COULD END UP KIDNAPPED AND NEVER HEARD FROM AGAIN. YOU WILL BE SOLD AND I DON'T THINK I NEED TO TELL YOU WHAT WOULD HAPPEN.

I live in TX and have been to South Padre. You can walk right over the bridge from there and you'll be in Mexico. Can't you go with your parents? If you're staying in a Hotel, ask them what type of ID you'll need to come back across the border. they won't ask for ID going in but coming back is where you may have a problem. You could try taking your birth certificate. Sometimes they will accept that.

they let you cross without id, i've been to south padre 4 times and crossed every time. But it is a good id to carry some sort of id on you just in case something happens.

you will need your ID (the school one is fine) and your birth certificate just in case......the customs officials will ask you what you are bringing back from mexico and just tell them the basics like candy, curios, blankets, etc.

like metioned before, don't go to Matamoros!!!! just go to Nuevo Progreso aka "Las Flores" they have everything there....even cheaper i think!

If you don't have a license, take the bus. Or the train. Or the plane.
