I have quite a few favorites, but Black Adder would have to top the list. What shows do I need to make sure to include for my viewing pleasure (comments on Black Adder are also welcome).

Black Adder is hillarious (all five versions)
Like anything else, there are some great and terrible British comedies.
I would put Faulty Towers at the top of my list. John Cleese only did 12 episodes over 3 years (he wanted them to be perfect, and they are amazing - and he didn't have any more stories to tell so he stopped).
Are You Being Served is a lot of fun, although it does show its age.
Certainly Monty Python is a classic.

If you would like something a little different, try a show called Ballykissangel. Its about a new British Priest who comes to an Irish parish. Its very well acted, and very well done. Not a sitcom, but a wonderful slice of life program with a lot of Irish humor.

Oh if you want silliness - Red Dwarf - Where else would you get a cat that has mutated into a combination of James Brown and Cat?

I love Britcoms. I grew up watching those of the 1970s and 1980s and still watch "Are you being served?" I think they're just hilarious, and well written. I watch way more British comedy than I do American comedy.

My favorite of all time is Benny Hill. He was silly and hilarious. Next is Monty Python. Their iconoclastic irreverence is noteworthy.

Splendid indeed! It's like playing a game of Terry Pratchett's Discworld but without all that silly interaction nonsense going on so you can just sit and watch them do stupid things without having to point-and-click on their bloody little bums to make them speak. ;)

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE IT !! So much better than the vulgar "humor" of American TV. It's not comedy of you have to swear to get a laugh.
