I find it odd that a woman can decide alone if she wants to keep or abort a baby and the father has no say. Yet when it comes to child support the father must pay...no choice. I just find it interesting.

Because she is the one carrying the baby and it is in her body. If the sperm and egg met and created a child in a seperate sack that grew in the ocean or something and the couple just went to pick up their baby... then it would truly be equal.

It's kind of like women wanting to control the sperm of a man. If it's inside of him then it is HIS and the same with the egg. Once the sperm leaves and enters the woman's body and the child develops inside of the womb that happens to be INSIDE of her... then it's her choice. Not our fault. We didn't come up with that plan.. trust me. If I could have it the other way around, I would.

It's not hypocritical but it is tricky because it is still both of their child. But the choice lies with the woman since she is the ultimate 'source' for the baby. Until men are able to get pregnant, it won't be equal.

Who said they're shocked?

But, really, it's not equal, and never will be, until men and choose to carry a fetus to term.

It's an inequitable biology, and laws can't make it equitable. Just like a woman can know her baby is hers, but men sometimes don't know without technological assistance.

For that matter - it's impossible for a woman to have a child and not know it - but it's feasible that a man may have many and be completely unaware.

I can see one reason why they are shocked. Because they carry the baby in their womb for 9 months and then feed it with their own milk.
Men get away by donating a sperm. Women could as well go to a sperm bank. And if men like you keep up with these rants than women WILL go to sperm banks.

So when you are prepared to carry a baby for 9 months and go through labor and feed it with your breast milk, ask for equal rights.

I'm a woman and I think men should get more rights.

I dont think its fair that men have no say in the life of their children. I think that women should not be able to get an abortion without the fathers consent, unless they dont know who the father is. I know many men who's girlfreinds went behind their back and had gotten abortions because they knew the man would want it.

I'm pro-life though, so take my opinion as you want.

I really don't know. It's so narcissistic these days, our culture. A woman doesn't want to "ruin" her body or do something altruistic, yet if she does she expects to be compensated for it.

We're shocked because typically men don't want rights. They dont' want to be a part of this kid's life or help support him/her or raise him/her. I think more men should stand up for their rights as fathers. If she doesn't want the baby, the father should first be given the option to become the single parent if that's what he chooses.

yeah whatever, if that was the case, men would have been given the gift to carry children and give birth

if everything was so equal, people wouldn't have a heart attack when a mother walks out on her children, and then just look the other way when a man does it

I don't know...are you the one that asked about women registering for the draft? You all need to be posing your questions to Hillary....and, as I said before...people do have control over reproduction...it's called abstinence, waiting until you are ready for kids, protected sex, birth control....

Because after the initial cell, your biological contribution diminishes each passing moment until it's only .01%.

As the mother, my children will be walking around with cells made from my body until the day they die.
