Not that it would stop hormone-laden teens from continuing to act like idiots or anything. But we sure could drop our deficits around this country by fining underage smoking.
But seriously, why is underage drinking against the law, but not underage smoking?

I don't know, but up here in Ontario, Canada. The law is you have to be 19 to smoke and 19 to drink. In the stores if you look under 25, you can bet they'll I.D. you.
Drinking and smoking laws in Ontario are very strict, especially when it comes to selling to underage kids.
Personaly I think that these laws should be universal. And governments should if they aren't already be implemnting plans and laws that educate young'uns on the dangers of drinking, smoking and drugs. Because prevention is always key.

In NJ. you have to be 18 to buy them. But the goverment is to h e l l bent on arresting the people who help minors buy because then they can prosecute them. They can't do much with a minor ,except go after the perents which I think is ludacris because, how many adults can stop what their kids do out side the home? And kids only get a slap on yhe wrist.

It is... but, not enforced. (Usually, just by fining the place that sold it to the minor)---almost all places that sell cigarettes are required under law to make the customer provide an I.D.!

It is, but I see your point. When was the last time you read in the paper that teens were arrested for possession of tobacco? Whed did you ever? It is obviously not enforced.
