I am not sure of your question here but there is a difference between a typo and a mis-spelling and that change tells the reader something about the writer!

A typo is a mechenical flaw even when you type the wrong key by accident. Misspelled as I had written it above is on the bases of Lingua franc, hence a literate spelling error of sorts. However, if you understand Chancery, the proper name for formal script writting, then the double 's' connected is the mistake because when it is followd by the 'p' the form must look balanced yet here it suggests 3 decenders consecutively on the bases of a western hand!

Webster was not a Writting Master, nor did he consult one, and ever sense the understanding of the written word has been in decline. Henc there is a relative need of a basic common language but beyond that it pays to understand who or what is doing the writting. Musick, Publick, and .ccompts are examples of how language is sometimes mere fashion.

By the way did you know that the origional 'Computer' was a British Clerke who was trained to write Bookeeping Accompts!

Even typos can make it look like the writer is...ummm...not too intelligent....We all do it at one time of another, and usually I think that the content is more important than the spelling, but repeated "typos" or misspelling just look so bad and shed a bad light on the writer. This is a place where people get to show off that they are smart, that we know all the answers, so you kind of expect them to be smart enough to spell!! Now I hope I've spelled everything right in this answer!

I think purposeful misspelling is a sign of laziness, myself. I know that some don't care and some can't spell. But those who can, who had the gift of education and choose to pretend that they aren't smart, don't need to be treated as though they were. I don't have a problem with typographical errors, they happen. But have a little bit of personal pride and respect for the people reading your questions.

I guess it's actual living proof that a LOT of people are bothered by things that they find to be irritating to their brains! Think about it. Many of us spent years having to write a word 100 times every time the teacher found a misspelled word on any of our tests & school assignments!!! Perhaps you can chalk it up to a "generation gap" of sorts, or just accept the fact that many people have OCD (Obsessive Compulsive Disorder) & don't even know it! You'll probably never ever know the reason why & neither will I.

Let's start with your first sentence of your question. The (i) should have been capitalized. Since (what it bothers) is probably why does it bother so much. There are a few more grammatical, punctuation, and sentence structure mistakes. It shows pride, self respect, and just an indication of education to take time to do it right. Or any job worth doing is worth doing right. If you can't spell there is check spelling available.

What's so hard about spelling? People who spell poorly appear ignorant and uneducated. No boss will put up with someone who represents his company and can't spell or even use spell check. The world is not a forgiving place where ignorance is concerned.

I can read misspelled words. I have many times on here. I can't spell the greatest myself. As long as people aren't using slang and short form I am fine. That drives me batty.

Why does it bother you if we do? I guess you would rather not take the time to spell correctly, and use correct punctuation and grammar. That is a reflection on you and your standards.
I disagree. Anyway there is a spell checker for those who lack the ability to spell. Soooo you take two pills!!

It's because we hate having to read a question more than once to figure out what they're trying to ask. Grammatical and spelling errors make it hard to understand.
