I think it's entirely possible that some are born with an inclination, or orientation, toward their own sex. Other, more crippling birth defects are common, so why not that?
But what is beyond all doubt is that ENGAGING IN HOMOSEXUAL ACTIVITY IS A CHOICE. It is a sin, clearly proscribed by God. The idea that one may be born with an inclination to such activity doesn't justify it in the least. After all, are we not all born with an inclination to one type of sin or another? Does this mean we are free to engage in whatever transgressions our "nature" urges us to? By no means!
Jesus healed many with various deformities and birth defects, so any homosexual who is brave enough to recognize and admit his need for healing can come confidently to Christ to be made whole. It may not be easy, or quick, but trusting in Christ will always lead to victory.

Because we were.
Anyone who believes ALL gays CHOOSE to be gay has never known someone who is gay. They've never concidered that we DO NOT choose to be hated, reviled, vilified, demonized, beaten and MURDERED for something we have NO control over!!
Sure, there are those extreme few, who have decided to be gay because it seemed a fashionable thing to do, or out of some emotional hurt. But those people usually don't remain "gay" and do revert back to their NATURAL straight life..eventually.
But the MAJORITY of gays/lesbians, do NOT choose to be gay any more than we can choose what hand we are naturally predisposed to use or what color our eyes are.
It's just a NATURAL VARIENT in human sexuality. It's not a moral issue or even a mental health issue. It's just something that is and really does need to be accepted as NORMAL, because it is.

Most all gays think they were born gay. Most all hetro's thing they were born straight. That's just the way it is. I am straight and cannot comprehend that anyone can be born gay. But, since it goes against God, I don't think God would have created homosexuals. Therefore, I believe homosexuality is a choice. I may be wrong, but I don't think so. :)

because gay people are actually born gay- they can choose to suppress it and pretend to be straight or just face the fact that thats what they are supposed to be
its not a choice (by the way: im not gay)

Let me ask you this. Would you decide to be gay? I'm assuming that you are straight and a total homo-phobe so therefore you will say no to that question. Sexuality is not a choice, just like your heritage and gender are not a choice.

Biology and sexual orientation is the concept that there is, at least in part, a biological basis for sexual orientation. An increasing number of studies have investigated this link, but no scientific consensus exists as to the specific biological factors that may play a role, nor to the precise nature of their influence on sexual orientation.
The main biological determinants of sexual orientation are generally thought to be genetic and hormonal, with some writers suggesting either one or the other are the key factor, and many suggesting that both play a role. Most scientists agree that it is unlikely that there is a single "gay gene" that determines something as complex as sexual orientation, and that it is more likely to be the result of a number of biological factors. Many also agree that social and environmental factors intersect with biology to produce sexual orientation, while many strongly believe that sexual orientation is purely biological and inborn. The view that post-natal environmental influence is the sole determinant of sexual orientation and gender was prominent in the 20th century, but is less widely held in the 21st century.[1]
Chromosome linkage studies
In 1993, Dean Hamer published findings from a linkage analysis of a sample of 76 gay brothers and their families. Hamer et al (1993)[6] found that the gay men had more gay male uncles and cousins on the maternal side of the family than on the paternal side. Further analysis by Hu et al [7] revealed that 67% of gay brothers in a new saturated sample shared a marker on the X chromosome at Xq28. Sanders et al (1998 cited in Wilson and Rahman 2005, p52) [8] replicated the study, finding 66% Xq28 marker sharing in 54 pairs of gay brothers. However, three teams (Bailey et al 1999, McKnight and Malcolm 2000, and Rice et al, 1999 cited in Vilain, 2000)[9] failed to replicate the finding. More recently, Mustanski (2005)[10] failed to find the Xq28 marker in a complete genome scan of gay men’s DNA. Mustanski did however find autosomal markers at 7q36, 8p12 and 10q26. The evidence for the Xq28 marker has therefore become muddied by failures of replication.
A recent study supports X-linkage from a different perspective. Women have two X chromosomes, one of which is "switched off". In some cases, it appears that this switching off can occur in a non-random fashion. Bocklandt et al (2006)[11] reported that the number of women with extreme skewing of X chromosome inactivation is significantly higher in mothers of homosexual men than in age-matched controls without gay sons. 4% of controls showed extreme skewing compared to 13% of the mothers with gays sons and 23% of mothers with two or more gay sons.
Male homosexuality appears likely to be influenced by a complex genetic interaction which may be mediated by H-Y antigens in the mother’s immune system (see below). Whichever genes are implicated they almost certainly cause male brains to differentiate in a female typical direction. As for female homosexuality, there remains little evidence from replicated genetic linkage studies.

Homosexuals saying that they were born gay, is the way that they justify to them selves, the fact that they perform sexual acts that go against God and nature.I am no holier-than-thou hypocrite I sin I lust for women and a sin is a sin.I don't give in to my urges and ask God for forgiveness. It is like I said a sin is a sin and when it comes to sin we are all in the same boat.No mater what you are doing when it comes to sin if you want to stop, repent ask God for forgiveness And ask God for the strength to fight your desires.

I know that I was. I remember my first crush, a girl named Janna in the 1st grade. I've NEVER been attracted to the opposite sex, even with childhood crushes. Also, why would someone choose a lifestyle where they are constantly stripped of basic human rights, descriminated against, and even raped/assaulted? Did you know that NOT A SINGLE STATE considers crimes against homosexuals to be hate crimes?
