The modern basis for the aura that surrounds Friday the 13th stems from Friday October the 13th, 1307. On this date, the Pope of the church in Rome in Conjunction with the King of France, carried out a secret death warrant Against "the Knights Templar". The Templars were terminated as heretics, never again to hold the power that they had held for so long. There Grand Master, Jacques DeMolay, was arrested and before he was killed, was tortured and crucified.

i dont know why Friday the 13th is an unlucky day, but i know that 13 is an unlucky number there are 13 steps leading up to a neuss, and 13 knots on the neuss (sorry i dk how to spell it)

There's a history behind it, but I was born on August 13th, and I've always considered 13 my lucky number (as opposed to unlucky)... sort of strange, but that's just me - I guess I'm not all that superstitious.

It's all based on superstition. I don't believe that junk. I've had a bad "Friday the 13th" once, though. I was in 7th grade, and we were in P.E. class. It was a free day, and the P.E. coach decided that we should play on the playground. Well, I was swinging on the swings, and all of a sudden, the chain broke, and I fell flat on my butt - HARD!!! Everyone was laughing at me!!! I was pretty embarassed at myself, but I just brushed the dirt off my butt and laughed at myself like I should do. Hope you don't have one of those unlucky days . . .

I am not sure, but my daughter was born on December 13th, Friday...-smiles- It is not a bad or unlucky day for me...

I think it goes back to when God freed the Jews from Egypt. Their Sabbath day is on the 14th of Nissan which is a Saturday. The night before is when the destroyer killed all of the first born in Egypt who didn't have lamb's blood over their door frame.

i do not know, actually. i find it silly because 13 is actually a lucky number in china. i, myself, have never experienced any bad luck on days dated the 13th. or, get jinxed by having 13 items whatsoever.

I have always found that the 13th Fridays are very lucky to me...it is just a superstition...chill out and enjoy your day.....

b/c it has the umber 13 in it which is a cursed number most ppl think...and when ppl build sky scrapers they skip the 13th floor!!!
