Every thing and event has a certain meaning, reality carries a certain scale or value compared to other proportions, our perceptions only sense what we think we see through time and space, we impose on what we see by conditions of time and space, time and space are concepts of the intellect via our senses, our senses are not pure measures of things and events
because we subject ourselves to principles of matter and motion, yet matter and motion are illusions of meaning because we cannot truly understand truth, truths are theory, ever changing. Its like when one sees a plate of glass with a finger print on the surface, at first glance its just a finger print, yet what the perception doesn't tell you is that the print represents another dimension of reality that isn't present to be viewed, just because we cannot see the other dimension does not negate its existence, therefore the perception creates an illusion that what you only see is a plate of glass and a finger print .. when in fact the finger print represents another dimensional entity in time and space ..... Things and events are real and not real ..... welcome to
the illusion of reality......

Below is a good example of whats real and not real ....
Whats real are the manifestations of terrible ways of humanity,
we say terrible because language suggest that these deeds are wrong, the illusion is that what is, is.. Because we are human
always suggest that we should be good, in nature there is no wrong or right, these atrocities in the human condition are what humans seem to do, its a damnation to life, yet it exist, because of laws and rules we created morality, but as one can see in the would and around the corner morality is an illusion, yes most people do not commit these violent ways, but they do exist. How many people have thought in their mind to cause harm yet do not go through with their idea, its only a thought, yet the idea made its way into the mind, perhaps an inner feeling from the vestiges
of our past mentality ...... We are suppose to be good, yet from the horrific description from below we see we are not ....
What men do to men in war shows men can be without morality
when dealing with the dogmas and metaphors of religion and
political ideals ...... Yes, killing and rape and all the etc's shows one that the illusion of humans to be good is not always the case..

You can only interact with your surrounding through your senses. Your brain translates those senses into "images" and you interpret them as "the reality".

Sometimes your brain can generate images without the need for external senses (ie. dream), but you can't tell the difference between these images and the ones you got from your senses.

As such, you can never tell for certain that is real beyond your very own mind. In another word, your reality lies within your own domain, and everyone else will have a different reality in them.

So for your question, if you think it's real, it's real for you, but not necessarily for the rest of us.

Reality is whatever your 5 senses can perceive...and it's different for everyone...which explains why this world is so messed up.

I really don't consider myself religious, however, I really do find it noteworthy to mention that the fact that we do exist, is proof that there is a creator(s) in some capacity. After all...if there can be no end to time in the universe as we know it, how can there have been a beginning?

Reality is that which when you stop believing in it, it is still there.

(edit)
This gets more complicated when you look at other theories like: "I think and therefore i am", and "Change the way you look at things, and the things you look at change".

I think we all share thoughts in a universalal conciousness, what we think affects the universe as a whole. You can change your own reality to an extend and if you get really good, you can change anothers reality too.

Reality is your perception of it. We create our own reality...and often affect another with our sense of it...so it often spills into the next piece of reality...and before you know it; we have created a mass consciouness that shapes and effects all of us. The good news is... we can reinvent ourselves a person at a time...and make our reality a better place to be in. I know I am trying to do my part...and hope it makes your "part" better...then we can pass it to the next person.

Reality is whatever you think it is, normally. Getting at real reality requires great effort.

When you start questioning reality, as an individual or otherwise, those with a better understanding of it will let you know.

Is rape, abuse, starvation, beating, alienation, torture, murder, death, disease not real?

Keep thinking it isn't-- no worries, like I said, the dialectic continues-- the naves will have their day to be lined up and summarily shot.

The only thing that's really real is your perception of what's really real. Just ask anyone at Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends.

Anything is as real as you make it. Reality is more and more defined by perspective.
