I changed some of the settings for color, screen resolution, security. etc. on my Vaio the other day, and I can not get the old, default settings back, even when I go to the pages where I changed them in the first place. And yes, I have rebooted! So, is there a place where I can easily restore the default settings of my operating system, which is Windows Millennium.

Go to system restore and choose a date that the PC was the way you wanted it. Apply the restore point and it should be fine.

Go to Start then ---->Programs ---> Accessories---> scroll down to system tools---> go to system restore!

Right click on the desktop and select Properties from the menu that appears.
Click on the Apperance tab
You can change the colors, fonts, etc there
You should have a drop down list of standard themes or setting
Look for the "Windows Standard" theme (or something close to that name - do not have ME on this machine to get the exact name)

For screen resolution, go to the settings tab
Slide the bar on the left to either "less" or "more" until you get to screen resolutin you want (probably either 800x600 or 1024x756)

Not sure what you mean by "security". May have to give us some more details on that one. Windows security? Internet security? Firewall security?

There should be a place in your control panel where you can do this; I've never used Milennium, sorry. If no help, go to Microsoft.com and they will help you.
