Ok. I downloaded avast! antivirus last night. Today, my pc. just seems?

slower than usual? It ran okay for awhile but, after an hr. or so, the pc. just seemed to slow down. Did I do something wrong?? thanks.

Make sure you don't have any other antivirus software besides Avast. Usually the PC comes with a default anti-virus software so uninstall all except the one you want to use. The different anti-virus software will conflict will each other.

Avast is a actual-time antivirus meaning it is scanning your pc each and each and every of the time it is operating.i have used it for 5 years and performance under no circumstances run a experiment except it detected some thing.it is going to sluggish it down once you run a experiment as you're doing,yet after the first experiment,it isn't any longer neccessary.

Antivirus program makes computer run slower because everything that comes into it has to go through the antivirus first, kind of like a filter. No way to fix it, and no really good antivirus programs. Better off to re-format if you do get a virus.

only 1 antivirus for sure, but this sounds a little more convoluted:
on XP with moderate to fast (high gH) processor this alone wont do it. if you installed it on a slow chip (low gH) then chances are yes. if hi speed chipset, then get analysis of current processes (i like "WHAT'S RUNNING"). make sure you've defragged, and cleaned up the junk ('ccleaner' for this job). housecleaning windows is ongoing job. scan for virus/etc. and correct.

Hi, there maybe something wrong with your IE.

i recommand you to try firefox.

it can block that annoying ads and disable any virus on webpage. as you know, most virus are spread through internet.

firefox is much smaller than IE, so it run faster than IE.
