My friend whose brother-in-law is a pediatrician says put them in bed (after 4 mths ) and let them cry no more than a half an hour but just drop them off in their bedroom and they will learn to sleep on their own. She tried it and it works with her 16 mth old but her 6 yr old who she did not do that with, cries and takes sometimes over an hour to go to sleep. Be patient and good luck!

I agree with you. By 11 months old, your daughter probably knows that you will stay in her room, so she is going to continue to stay up or wake up so you will be with her. While this is normal, it isn't healthy for anyone. Try waiting a bit longer each night before you go in, then reassure her (pat her or kiss her) without taking her out of her crib, tell her you love her and leave the room! There are many good books out there if you want a more formalized system, such as the No Cry Sleep Solution by Elizabeth Pantley. Good luck!

There are many ways that you can help out your baby to sleep longest. May sure that your baby is been feed right, at 11 months old, they can have papillas, mashed potatoes or baby food #3. Along with that, you have to avoid let it go to sleep after 5:00P.M. and play and let go crawling on the floor, walk along the block and she will be more than tired to fall asleep all night long. If she wake up, change the diaper and turn back, not feeding after sleep. It will take time but, it works.

You are right. You have to let the baby know you aren't coming to the rescue. Most importantly, you need your sleep to care for the kid. Let her cry it out, it won't kill her. We were in your position not too long ago and are working on getting our girl to sleep better. You just have to be strong, any time you give in a bit you make it worse for the next time she cries.

Well it depends on how old the baby is? Is she getting a nap to close to bed time? She is not getting a long enough nap during the day? Why is she waking up? Does she eat when she wakes up or does she just want to play? I need more infomation on your daughter to give a better answer.

Your right, you need to leave your child in the room alone. yes, she will probably cry a little bit, but crying hasn't hurt my son and he knows when mom and dad leave it's time to go to sleep and he only fusses now for about 10 minutes. Good Luck, it is hard to hear your child cry, but remember, she has to learn to fall asleep on her own like everyone else!

Your baby needs you. Newborns don't *know* how to go to sleep along; you have to help her. Just like you don't expect her to walk into the kitchen and prepare her own meals, it is unreasonable to expect her to fall asleep all by herself!!
If you are putting her into her crib, and she wakes up and stays up for hours, either she isn't tired, or the method you're using to put her to sleep isn't working. Either way, *help* her!!

Let her cry. She needs to sleep and so do you guys. She will snap out of it when you all quit catering to her shenanagins. Of course, if she's truly ill, that's a viable exception.
