We put our baby to sleep and she wakes up shortly after. My wife feels we should stay in the room until she falls a sleep. Tonight she stayed up 2 hours and we stayed with her the whole time. I don't think this is right. I think we should leave her and let her fall a sleep. What is the right way to get her back to sleep?

My 11 month old does the same thing. If you leave her to cry (which is just plain mean IMO) she will just get more upset and wake up even more. I just pick her up and either bring her to bed with me or rock her in her room until she falls asleep again. Good luck.

You have two options. One is to leave her in her crib so she learns how to fall asleep again. I, on the other hand, did the lazier option I guess. I let my son come to bed with me. I know a lot of people are against that, but it worked wonderfully for me, plus I enjoy the cuddles. I realise that you may be creating a whole new problem. Your baby will only want to sleep with you. I guess if you're strong enough leave her in her room, go for it. Supernanny, Jo Frost, I don't know if you know her show, has a great book out there that deals with such things. I would recommend it.

Try a sound machine. Maybe she is being startled awake by the phone or noises, dogs car alarms lawnmowers etc.. get her good and worn out in the nice weather and maybe a bath and try the sound machine our kids still use them at 4 and twin 6year olds. Buy at walgreens target etc 15 - 20.00 I usually use white noise.
