your main responsibilities should include: branding, placement and visibility...

you need to make sure your product is easily recognized vs. (all the other products that do what yours does)

your product needs to be ingrained...people need to be able to use it...demo copies, online demos...webex examples.....

and your product needs to be seen....get the wall street journal to write a story on your software...get a high profile software site to review your product...etc..etc..

Demonstrate the ability for your software to fill the needs of your target market. It's easier if you're also selling the solution (i.e. consultants) as well, because you can include people. If not, the trick is to help companies see why your package uniquely fits their environment...also, make the technology easy for them to understand...while we generally are getting more tech savvy, there are still a lot of execs that like things made simple for them...
