So the total price is $1.10 for TWO ITEMS

First divide 1.10 in half (for two items)

which equals 55 cents.

then imagine the number 55.

Since the first one is a dollar more, 55 will go two different ways. So 55 can go 50 cents up. and 55 can also go 50 cents down. which will be a 1.00 difference.

55 + 50 cents = 105 cents which is also $1.05

55 - 50 cents = 5 cents.

so the first baseball is $1.05
and the second one is 5 cents.

hope i helped!

x + y = 1.10

x = y + 1

(y + 1) + y = 1.10
2y + 1 = 1.10
2y = .10
y = .05

x = .05 + 1
x = 1.05

One of them costs $1.05
The other one costs $0.05
