people feel that way because society has glamorized sex so much. you should in NO way feel ashamed of this. You should be very proud of yourself. Not only is it a sin to have sex before marriage but you also run the risk of unwanted pregnancy and contracting a sexually transmitted disease. Also, alot of partners will say they love you and want to be with you forever just to be able to take your virginity from you for purely selfish reasons. Please be very careful and ask god for direction and know that you are making the right choice by waiting until marriage to have sex.

Society has made it to wear being sexually active is considered a normal thing. Sex is a topic of converstaion. Some people feel bad when they can't participate in it and will make stuff up in order to be able to.
A lot of it has to do with society though. When my parents were young, there was hardly any talk about sex, condoms weren't being handed out at school, and everything else that we see going on these days.
With sex out in the open, one feels out of place if they are a virgin. A virgin may feel like they don't beling.
I tink anyone that is a virgin ought to be proud that they are. It is a wonderful thing to be. It means you have respect for yourself and you have great morals. A virgin should not let society badger them down because of their virginity. It is your choice after all and your body. You are allowed to do what you want with it.

First I want to point it out that It is culture that differs. Some countries ,especially Asian countries are proud of virgins. For it is the symbol of pure and honesty and high moral qualities. While that people are shamed of it is also resonably understanded, for sex experience is the evidence that they are attracted by someone else in some aspect, which can be called a success.

It's not that we aren't proud, it's that after awhile, especially if you're in a relationship, people just tend to be too far into your business. It's no longer just about you, it's about your boyfriend too. And you get a lot of crap about what you "do in the bedroom," and "are you sure he's not gay", and "I think he's a virgin too." After awhile, you just give up and say "y'know what...? I'm not a virgin after all--I lied." That way, people leave you and your man alone. God knows the truth; he's the only one who's really entitled to it besides of course, you and your man.

Virginity is a sign of immaturity. And as you get older, the peer pressure is higher.
But obviously you are not a virgin or you would not have asked such a foolish, not well thought out question.

I think you already know the answer to this question. But for those of you who are too naiive: In a society such as this, we find ourselves surrounded by millions of dull, uninspired people, who are too lazy to step out of the established norm which of course is sexual gratification through fornication; Engaging in sex is more or less a right of passage in our embarrassing culture.

Men or Women should be proud to be virgins. It's a great commodity these days, it's almost non-existent!
