The U.K. developed and/or adopted the principles of individual rights, limited government, a market economy, and scientific rationalism. The U.S. and Australia inherited these concepts from the U.K. The U.S. carried some of these ideas further and codified them into their national constitution.
These principles produced rapid economic, technological, and cultural growth. Given a wide range of freedom to think, act, invent, produce, and trade, these societies came up with many ideas and attracted many bright and productive people. These countries were able to use freedom to produce a higher standard of living and develop technological and administrative superiority to bolster their defenses.
These three countries also benefit from geography. The U.K. and Australia, as islands, have a natural defense from hostile neighbors. The U.S. does as well, with oceans to either side and smaller, peaceful neighbors bordering above and below.

It's really more a matter of opinion. I feel that Canada rates just as high as the good ol' USA (I wouldn't mind paying higher taxes for free health care, better roads, national police force, etc.) Some people would argue for Ireland or Senegal or Germany or Russia.

errrrrrrr...
Sound like you havent been/travel anywhere yet I presume except Houston!
By the way, these 3 countries are better because of the oppression of human spirit, tears, blood and sweat from human trafficking, immigration and slavery!
By the way, Canadian dollar is higher than US dollar and USA lost to China in the world market domination. Ask US how much debt it has with the UN? Australia, how many immigrant flocks there to work annualy? Shortage of manpower or locals/Aussies are lazy?
Better? Hello!

Well, they're all countries that have a higher standard of living, if that's what you mean by better.

were really not we just believe we are because of our deluded views on how awesome our standard of living is....our education (in the US anyway) lags behind just about all developed nations, health care puts us around third-world nations.....the list goes on
