Yes. I'm 52, so I didn't live through the previous world wars. After the 9/11 attacks on the World Trade center (I think I started the day after) I started researching what led up to WWI and WWII to see if there was any pattern that would be helpful in determining if we were headed in the direction of WW III. My researched showed yes, absolutely. Neither previous world war started over night. They crept up on us bit by bit with little wars here and there around the globe which served to create alliances as people chose sides (not too unlike sports fans do for their favorite team). For a lot of little disjointed wars to become a "world war" isn't a big leap once one bully pushes another who has a bigger brother with a bunch of friends ready and willing to come to his aid.

Scott, DAMN IT ALL.

I hate war and killing innocent folks, as most people do. Trouble is that wars have raged long before we were a 'sparkle in our daddy's eyes'. I guess you know that too.
Tonight, just after I got home from work at around 10pm (GMT) I sat at my PC and checked out the video downloads I had set the day before.

OK. I had some Bruce Willis and an old Harrison Ford movie to watch. But I also had, and wait for it...a documentary called:

The.Road.to.Guantanamo.2006.LiMiTED.DVDRip.XviD-PROMiSE.(PeerWeb.org)
It seems it was a documentary shown in the UK on Channel 4 or maybe 5. (the shock of watching helped me forget the channel).
Basically, the title is this:
The Road to Guantanamo, but for the next hour and a half, I was totally numbed at the scenes in this movie.
This is a very disturbing description of events which lead to the incarceration of at least three British subjects, who are originally from Pakistan.
One of the guys went to Pakistan to be married. He took some friends. Not all of them made it. And those who did, spent a long time being punished and tortured for a long time, simply for a short visit to their homeland and a neighboring country and for seemingly, what was supposed to be a happy event.
Afghanistan was a place they had decided to visit while in the region and they were not aware of any military action which may be imminent between the US and the Taliban Militia. These people were British subjects, yet were condemned as terrorists.

They (most of them) lived to tell the tale of the horror they encountered, and the personal and mental strength they gained during and after the ordeal they suffered at the hands of the US Military in Cuba.
A moving, yet truly believable account of some innocent guys from the UK (OK - so they were foreign, but our subjects) who innocently travelled to their homeland for a celebration.

wait 48 hours my friend. it all depends on how far the Syrians are willing to go with this.
door number one, they lose their nerve for whatever reason, Israel gets the hostages back, and this blows over.
door number two, Israel is forced to keep looking, and they follow the trail to Damascus.
right now it's 50/50 and could really go either way. but it will go one or the other.
I have to say I'm siding with Golnaz. Israel sees this as their chance to really act. They will not stop until they get what they want. If Syria and Iran do get involved, and if it does become a regional war, there will be no turning back.

A Peace to End All Peace is an interesting book -- all previous conflicts set the stage for newer ones. This book is re: the "peace" following WW I being a setup for WW2; and the way WW2 ended (including arbitrary new countries( set the stage for WW3 >> it will go on to the end of time.

WW3 is on the economic front. I dont think it will be over land etc

I believe it is the beginning of WWIII. It is not full blown yet, but it will come. It is my belief Iran is the trunk of this strange and unstable geneology tree in the Middle East along with Saudi Arabia. It is because of them this hatred is out of control. We will experience a war like we have never known. The real religious problem is Saudi Arabia, where all the money for building Mosques world-wide is coming from. She is the one that states that if you accept her Mosque in your community, you must accept her religions instruction materials for your kids. These textbooks, textbooks used in America today, state that we Christians and Jews are akin to apes and pigs. It is so sad we are dealing with people who teach hate. How can we talk with people who promote hate? There are no talks here, there is just war. We have no choice. A time for war and a time for peace....sounds like the war drums are beating.

hi...I am from Iran...in my opinion, it has in some ways....may be it is not as world war I & II yet...I think this time will either not get worse than now or if it gets worse, it will be the worst war in the history, and that's because they will either not start or if they do they will do their best to destroy their enemy.....and it also depends on other situations...only God knows what the future holds for us.....have a nice day

Some say the cold war was WW III. That would make this WW IV. Hopefully the world leaders will not be that stupid yet.

If the world community does not resolve this soon, we are seeing the start of WW III.

I for one do believe it has started. It is growing too fast and it's almost as is if countires are too eager to join the 'war'.
