I've did Male modelling for the past 3yrs and still do Model occasionally. The "hype" about requirements r not true. No u dont need a six pack and u dont necessarily always haveto be tall either because I am 5'8". Being 6'3" gives u a good advantage. What they look for is very far stretched! So meaning u just haveto have sumthing about u physically and mentally that sparkles to them.

What I recommend is that u go and get a Male Modelling Diploma from a training institution. Sum agencies actually provide the training for u. From there onwards u will build up a photographic port folio which basically sells u as an idividual. Next is getting signed on with an Agent/Agency whom will get u assigned with work.

A big thing also is to have self confidence! U stating before "that sounds gay" gives off the vibe that ur either self consious or worried about what "others" think. Big tip, GET RID OF THAT attitude pal! Modelling is a CAREER. Be serious about it and forget what others think. Hardly any of us r gay, u may find the odd few but thats beside the point. It's also a very competitive industry, so meaning work isnt always available 24/7 so be patient and all the best to u! Goodluck

word to the wise, I've been down that road when I was your age.. and there are (unfortuantly) a certain segment of that industry, predatory gay men that will try and prey on you.. so don't be a homophobe or anything, but keep your wits about you..

get some good shots, head and body.. maybe get your foot in the door doing local fashion shows, hair shows - ususally a good way to connect with industry insiders and photographers that might do pics for trade...

take your pics to agencies - ask advice.

consider a course, many agencies offer them - but ask around - because there are a lot of scams too... that'll teach you basics about poise, shoots, runway, makekup, lighting and the biz.

be learly of any agency that offers to get you work once you have completed their course..

good luck

EDIT:

oh yeah, ps there's NOTHING gay about it (unless you're gay), I dated and hung around with so many foxy girls back in those days - all the meathead jocks that used to dis me were clamboring to be my friend, he he

ive seen magazines with guys that have lard so i think you will be fine, not saying your fat, i think you have a chance yes. ummmmm my friend recommended me to ProScout for agents to modeling and acting, but people say theres a better way but you could try ProScout. Just go to proscout.com, find your state, click on it, and then read to see when they will be in your state. Im heading to one of their meetings Sunday so wish me luck.
