No chance. The state will be either republican or democrat. 2 more senators etc. Whatever party was out would block the in party from making the ratification. This is why Hawaii and Alaska were admitted as a pair, one democrat one republican.

I think the 51st state would likely be Puerto Rico or the US Virgin Islands.

Ofcourse, Mexico may apply for statehood before long.

None in the near future (50 years). Puerto Rico does not want to become a state and I do not blame them.

not too low the governmet in washington tryed to break us up into two states. east washington and west washington.
