Wars fought today by the dominant countries of the world are almost exclusively fought to prevent genocide. Meanwhile, most "peace activists" are nothing more than communist scum trying make those genocides happen.
So...yeah.

War is never "good", but sometimes is necessary. WWI was not a good war. It was started because one man was killed by terrorists. WWI paved the way for Hitler to take power, which started the Holocaust and WWII, so WWII is not a good war because it could have been prevented by simply avoiding the first World War.
Okay, that's an example. All wars can be prevented. But, sometimes we get past the point of prevention and end up having to fight. The war isn't good, but sitting back and doing nothing (which isn't peace, that's called being passive to the point of murder) isn't good either. A government has a responsibility to protect and serve its people. Sometimes that means through war. Still, the war isn't good, just necessary.

No, for there to be peace, no one can be fighting.
If the government is evil, it's not peace-time, it just has the war under total domination.
I like to think of peace as the union of heaven and earth (if you believe in heaven that is.) Or a less spiritual view, a time when all people are accepted as people, nothing more, nothing less.

I wish I could be a total peace advocate but there are times when war is necessary. World War Two was necessary, it is very clear that the Nazis were murderous, insane, and evil, and same with the Japanese. Of course historians will tell you World War Two was just a continuation of World War One, and World War One was avoidable. But if you have some psycho bully in charge of a country and he has his army invading your country and killing your countrymen, you do have to mount a defense. Its too bad, but like on a schoolyard, there are some bullies that understand nothing but force.

no never. war is not an answer. everytime a soldeir kills or is killed, everytime a bomb drops or explodes. more hate is spread by the people who grieve from their loss. war destroys land, homes, infrastructures, peoples security and any chance for peace. war does not stop the haters it just fuels them to be able to enlist new haters. all countries should have a department of peace ( no not their state dept.) a true department only there to help to create peace and love in every nation. if all the money ever spent on weapons and war was used to feed and care for people who have nothing we could eliminate the haves and have nots. 3rd world would be a history book term. hating is a waste of time. loving spreads warmth for the receiver as well as the giver. no true god wants death or hatred. if there is no god as some insist then we need to live right for the short time we are here and not kill others. I am no wimp and i do own weapons but i do not believe i need to use them to "free" people or to spread "democracy". will i kill if threatened? yes if forced to. do i hunt? yes for food. no i do not need to hunt, but yes i do it. species that are over populating or not native to my area. people are native to our earth and belong everywhere. if muslims, jews, christians and every other religion would just accept others we could WAGE PEACE!!

War is never good, but it is often necessary to prevent or fight evil. Peace is evil when it is used to appease evil (reference: The Munich Agreement and Appeasement 1938 where Neville Chamberlain gave Hitler the Sudetenland to prevent war.)

Hitler got as far as the Holocaust because Europe sat idle too long. He got as far as Britain because America sat idle too long.
War is never good but it is often necessary. There are agressors driven by rage and envy. Peace is won when arms are laid down but sometimes force is necessary to make those you would make peace with lay down their arms.
Some would blame religion but religion is merely used to mask the underlying selfish motives.
