You buy your ticket at the counter, right when you walk in (or if you bought it online or something, you just check in). Then, you go through security, which can sometimes take a while thanks to that shoe bomber guy, so that's why they say to be there at least an hour early. Then, you go to the gate number on your ticket (they're very clearly marked) and wait until your flight boards. They board certain rows at certain times, so listen up for your row number to be called. Then you board, find your seat, and put your stuff in the overhead bin (you can also have it by your feet if it's small enough to fit under the seat in front of you).

1) Buy your ticket, preferably at least a week before
2) Arrive @ airport 2 hrs before flight
3) Check into your airline
4) Security Check
5) Go to the # on your ticket, the section or something like that
6) Wait till your plane is ready to board.
