What do Ann Landers, Neil Simon, Gina Lollobrigida, Calvin Coolidge, and Louis B. Mayer have in common? Apart from being recognizable figures in American popular culture and history, they share a birthday with our country: all were born on the Fourth of July. And now your famous too.

I don’t know if being born on the same date as George M. Cohan or Louie Armstrong had anything to do with the way I sing; have soul; can keep a beat; and dance; but I like to think there is some relation to that.
I am very opinionated (No! Really?) and that could mean I have a little in common with Ann Landers and Abigail van Buren, who were the twin sisters born on July 4th known to the world as “Dear Abby” and “Ann Landers”.
Could I be politically minded because American President Calvin Coolidge was born on the 4th? Or could it be because Presidents Thomas Jefferson, John Adams and James Monroe all passed into history on July 4th?
Do I enjoy writing because I share a day with Nathaniel Hawthorne; or do I write poetry and song lyrics ala Stephen Foster or Bill Withers?
Do I come off as a bit arrogant because I share that day with George Steinbrenner, or Meyer Lansky; the Russian Mobster?
I am probably so wordy, actually, because I share the day with Geraldo Rivera!
The country I was born into was also born on the 4th of July. That country grew through two and a quarter centuries of human history to be the beacon to the world for navigating the darkness of tyranny to the light of liberty.
Be safe. July 4th is one of those holidays people love to travel to their favorite seaside or lake or campground. Many love to explode fireworks and not a few enjoy a hearty six-pack or two. Just be safe. Enjoy yourself.
Happy Birthday America.

My brother, Americus. I don't know what my parents were smoking when they saddled the poor boy with that name (actually, I think I do know what they were smoking!!)
Also- above someone said Tom Cruise, but his is on the 3rd of July. But he did star in the movie Born on the Fourth of July if that counts.
