This is the 1st year that we've seen slugs to this extent...it's not been very rainy - but rained today. In one location there were about 10.

At those tiers the 12 gauge is a hammer. i have used Federal slugs with the Barnes Expander, and Remington Copper sturdy sabots on deer and they are precise and hard-hitting. They make a larger hollow than a 30-30. even if, the 30-30 has a large music record, and has been killing deer, hogs, and black submit to for a lengthy, lengthy time period. positioned the bullet the position you need to and that is going to artwork. yet i'd lean in route of the 12 gauge. and do not purchase into the "brush-buster" delusion. Any bullet/slug can and could be deflected by skill of twigs, branches - even tall grass. not a lot, perhaps, yet sufficient to make you omit, or worse yet, omit the vitals and easily wound an animal.

You said it , it rained today, as you probally know the slugs can handle the rain up until the ground get saturated , that's when the slugs must come out, when the ground reaches saturation. Great time to pull out your old sand wedge, or the 9 iron and putt, or punt a few!

They seem to be creatures of habit and so if they were there last year they may have multiplied in that same place. Just wait til next year and you may have to move!
No kidding, though, don't be afraid of baits. If you have animals that might pick up the granules then go to SLUGGO. It may not be the best but if you are persistent you may win the battle. I like the strong stuff. Read the labels at the nursery, hardware stores, and good ole Walmart or Home Depot.

Moisture is always what brings the slugs out. You can get some ducks, like I have. They LOVE to eat slugs. But more practically, you can use slug bait (pellets or powder), or kill them by hand (I snip them in half with a scissors.)

don't use salt. it'll kill your lawn. use something else that kill slugs and doesn't kill your lawn. local hardware stores usually carry something for it.
