Babies are *always* more effective than any breast pump. And your breasts are never empty. The baby can *always* get more out.

Nothing can get milk from your breast like a baby can. He is definitely getting more than that when he nurses. You may need to supplement with formula when you are at work, but don't worry about when you are around nurse him.
You may want to consider a different type of pump as well. Some are better than others. If you are using a manual one try an electric, and try to relax while you are pumping. The Medela Pump in Style worked well for me.

Yes, the baby gets more milk out than the pump. I have an 8 mo old and can't pump anything at all but my baby gets enough milk. Like the other poster said, pump in between feedings to help increase your supply, eat oatmeal, mothers milk tea and fenugreek..helps to produce more milk. Also nurse on demand which is the best way to keep milk supply going

A baby who is latched on well will always get more than even the very best pump. The pump is man's best imitation of the real thing. :-)
You should never pump for more than 20 minutes at a time. Are you using an electric pump? One sided or two sided? If the flow of milk slows down, take the pump horn off your breast and reposition it slightly. This will help you to empty different milk ducts.

don't know if you are using a pump or not???? If you are manually expressing, without a pump, it is a very inefficient way to go about collecting. A pump is much better.
I had purchased an Avent Isis pump, and it did ok, but broke two times on me! Tired of break-downs, I bought a Medela electric pump, and could fill 2 eight ounce bottles in about twenty-thirty minutes. If you can afford it, definately buy an electric pump, because they mimic your baby's sucking, which produces more milk.
by the way, yes, your baby will get more milk when he/she eats. As long as the baby is gaining weight, it is receiving enough milk.

more milk comes out when baby feeds, just relax when you pump. Don't forget about let down (baby sucks then stops sucking for a bit, while milk is still coming) Keep trying it will work be patient

They get a ton more out than a pump does. some people are very sucessful with a pump---see the woman above puttin out 8 ounce bottles!!! I could NEVER get more than three ounces combined.
What you use to tell if the baby is getting enough is wet diapers and gain of weight. Call the baby's doctor if you are concerned at all.

When you nurse more often, daily, your body will produce what the baby needs. Maybe try pumping at lunch time in the ladies lounge and put it in the fridge to take home. Your body is only producing what it has to.

yeah cause he gets directly to the nerves where he sucks on the nipple. the pump machine doesnt touch ur nipple only ur breast thats why u dont redcuse that much milk. believe me if ur baby still not full he will let u know cause he wont quit crying. i think u r doing fine.
