Every time I startup my computer I get this error message:
"C:\program riles\musicmatch\common component unwise.exe"

It goes on to say "Windows cannot find the selected file and that to make sure it was typed correctly"

That's it! I have to close it and ther is nothing I can do with it.I've re-installed and un-installed the program but it keeps showing. Can anyone tell me how to get rid of this message?

Dell Dimension 1100
Windows XP Service Pack 2
Normal Security Settings
Running AdAware Adwatch but I don't think that's the problem.

Try running some registry cleanups

Go to RUN and type in MSCONFIG.

Click on the STARTUP tab and see if there is an entry for MusicMatch. Just UNCHECK that.

IF you do not find that, then use REGEDIT and search for "musicmatch" It is likely that deleting those registry keys won't hurt anything, but fix the problem.

In general, that error message is something that can be ignored forever, but if you fix it, your reboot sequence will speed up, instead of stopping to make you hit something.

You see, when something was uninstalled, it left something to be cleared out after restarting. Something went wrong, and the file disappeared, but the startup thing was left to fail in subsequent reboots.

Did you try deleting the program using add/remove programs? That might do the trick. Or, you might need to find it in the directory indicated and delete it that way.

If you have a program like Norton Utilities, it probably wouldn't hurt to run WinDoctor to straighten out your registry, since it's probably got some 'debris' left in there that is triggering this message.

You might also try getting hold of Music Match's support on their site to see what they might do to help you. This could be a known problem for them, and they might have some sort of downloadable repair.

Perhaps you try a System Restore..which will put your computer back to an earlier state when that program was in working order??
