Don't know where some of these people got these ideas from!
Ideals are those of the same element as yourself: Pisces, Cancer and Scorpio are all water signs. Don't go for another Scorpio, you'll just fight.
You're water, you need to flow. Mix your element with theirs to see what your relationship will be like.
Air signs will make you feel bubbly and unsettled.
Earth signs will make you feel like mud.
Fire signs will make you boil.
BUT it's far more complicated than just the sun signs.

id have to say a cancer is. im a cancer and hubby is scorpio and we work out great. he's loud, stubborn and overprotective. im shy quiet and easy goin. so we balance each other out. we have been happily married now goin on 6 years and still goin strong. he's not alway a mean person. we have alot of fun times too but in private. (I'M NOT TALKIN DIRTY) i just mean that he shows his tough side to others and constantly defends me and doesn't like others flirting with me, but he does his crazy dances and baby talks in private. so thats the side i know and family may think he's an asshole cuzz he's usually serious around others, but i know him better and he's the greatest!!!

I think another water sign Cancer or Pisces would fit that
category. Other signs can never fully understand the
Scorpio nature.
