The first and most important question is, what is your skill level. What skills don't you have that you need, and how can you get them.
Do the basic stuff, create a website, get a portfolio, advertise on easy places like craigslist, etc. This is all fluff work and the market is crowded, but may land you a few jobs or it can at least be used for informational purposes.
If you can define a niche market, that would give you a good direction. Club flyers would be an example of this. Also, define what it is you have to offer over anyone else. Is it price, quality, speed, distance, etc.
An easy avenue would be to contact local flyer distribution companies, and see if you can work a deal with them. Since they can offer repeat business with minimal effort.
Networking is your friend, talk to business owners, advertising agencies, printers, etc. If nothing else, you might be able to hustle up contract work with small printers, etc.
Be creative and know your target market.

The best routes to take are to research the process of starting a business as well as the industry you're interested in.
I recommend checking out the SBA, Entrepreneur, The Start Up Journal & Nolo. All 4 are great informational resources for the new/small business owner. I posted links for you in the source box.
Research, research, research – this cannot be stressed enough. Read as much as you can. Here are some book titles that are relevant:
* Starting an Online Business For Dummies, 4th Edition by Greg Holden
* How to Start and Maintain A Successful Online Business by Kelly Thornton
* The Complete E-Commerce Book: Design, Build, and Maintain a Successful Web-Based Business by Janice Reynolds
There are plenty of free informational resources out there. Check the source box for links to articles.
Hope that helps! I wish you much success & happiness in all your ventures!

Compared to offline businesses, the investment required to start an online business is minimal. A popular way of earning money on the internet is by providing information and services. This can be monetised by advertising or charging a subscription. You can also make money online by selling products on auction websites like eBay or through your own website.
