No one sent troops to die on American soil when we fought the revolutionary war. We the people won that war. No one sent troops to die when we fought the civil war. We the people won that one too. I think we should leave Iraq altogether and pray for the best. Does anybody out there agree with this thinking?

Can't. Not yet. Do you think we would still be there if it were that easy?? Come on!!

Nope.
I think we should let the Iraqis take more of a role in handling the insurgency and that the COALITION (that's right, more than one country, folks) should pull back to a support role.

The US should maintain bases in country (just like it has in Germany and Japan since WWII) to help restore stability and to provide a forward staging ground, 'cause I'm thinking that there's going to be a lot more happening before too long.

War is ugly, and people die. I defy anyone out there to cite an example of a time in history when a peace treaty was signed or a government was overthrown and the fighting stopped right then and there and everybody smiled and put daisies in the ends of their guns..

Iraq's doing better than the media would have you think. Just think if current media treatment methods were used in WWII: "25,000 US and Allied troops died today in Europe as a part of what is termed 'the Battle of the Bulge'". 25,000. Not 10. Not 14. That was one day in one battle in a war in which the US was only actively involved for four years. Doesn't even touch the crap that came before or afterward.

And Aussie Chick, I'd like you to ask some of the Holocaust survivors whether war ever solved anything...or a little more in your neighborhood, ask all the folks in Asia that were basically serving as tank tracks for the Japanese before the US came whether war ever solved anything.

Back to the books, folks.

First of all the French helped us win the Revolutionary War. Also the war in Iraq is over, and we won it. In May of 2003, Bush landed on the aircraft carrier and declared major combat operations over. Our Armed forces done a great job! But now we are bogged down in an occupation and all occupations must end. We need to do a Marshall Plan and let the Iraqis rebuilt their own country. And get the hell out! And for the misguided people that keep repeating the line" We must fight them over there, so we don't fight them over here" get a life! We aren't any safer by fighting them over there. I would venture that our odds of getting hit again are greater now.

I don't think so because it might turn into a big terrorist factory controlled by Al-qiada which is their plan after we leave and just before you know it we'll be right back in their according to some of the soldiers over there. I don' t believe in a half a**ed job. We will look worst then we do now.

No. the job is not finished. If we were to suddenly have a strong opponent of the war become president we still would not pull out right now. Talk of giving up is just a political ploy to gain support from gullible, uninformed voters.

Definitely not. If we leave now all that we have accomplished and gained will have been in vane as well as the lives lost by our gal lent military people.
It would also give them an opportunity to attack us again thinking we are weak and a bunch of sissies. We must stand up and fight until our just cause for world freedom is accomplished.

If we leave now, we'll anger the natives, who in turn will join the insurgents and eventually it will lead to war on American soil. Not something I want to have happen. I think it's too late. We have to finish what we never should have started.

Has the Iraqi's asked us to leave? We will leave when they ask us to. I've seen their leader on Television thanking us for being there and hoped we would have patience to stay until they get their security forces up to snuff. Why do you think we should leave? Is there new information I am not aware of?
