The first important way to get the search engines to pick up is to have metaname tags. The tags will placed between the html tags
right after the title tag, something this:
It is import to use revelant words in your keywords.
Google also has for free adsense which actually pays you when people click on the links.
Other to consider is your design. Sometimes having a flash site or a site with alot a images are not picked up by the search engine robots. The more content, plan text you have and relevant links will help your ranking.
Of course, these are just some basic things. You really have to work at it. Hope that has helped you a bit.

It's gonna take the search engines some time to find and index your pages. But even then, don't expect your site to be near the top of the search results. There are some steps you can take to change this, but bear in mind that the most effective techniques cost money. I'd suggest starting by reading up on Search Engine Optimization.

I don't understand how not being in a search engine would LOSE you customers, but you can do more link building than just free search engine submissions. Do a search for one of your keywords with "add link" or "add url" added to your search phrase. You should get at least a few (or few hundred) directories to start submitting too.
Also, write a short article about something you would be an expert at because of your business with a link to your site and your name in the 'resource box' and then submit to a couple of article directories. That should at least get you indexed.

Here are a few tricks that will help you with search engine traffic (1) Promote your site, by posting your website URL (web address) in your emails, related forums, groups etc to your website. Even posting your website address in your question (which you should have did here) in a site that is already indexed by search engines robots/spiders, the search engines robots automatically follow the links. Due to its regular updated content..Yahoo Answers get indexed regularly by search engines (2) Have related and regularly updated content on your site, sites with content rate higher with search engines than "plain advertising" site (no contents just ads) (3) Submit your site to multiple search engines (4) have links to related sites , inbound links and outbound links (to get inbound links, find a site similar to yours and ask if you can exchange links).(5) Make sure you use your keywords in your "meta" content and description tags, Keywords are important for search engines so they can index your site properly..For more detailded info visit the link below

Build links for other sites to yours! I use an EZ program that finds good sites, send out an email invite to trade links and even builds the link pages.
Once you have other sites pointing at your site, rankings zoom up! I know, I did it and my Adsense income runs about $25 per day!
It takes time! But, it really works!

USE META Searches. Add "Meta-tags" to each page.
Look it up on Yahoo!
Good luck, it worked for me.
