I went to my Doctor today to have a pregnancy test since I am on prometrium and my period has not started yet :only a day late . Urine test was negative but the nurse said that there was no blood in my urine(which she preformed a seperate test to show) and wants me to get a bolod test for pregnancy why would that be ?do you get traces of blood in urine before you period starts?Thanks so much

a day late it is hard to tell on urine test blood test can tell you sooner if you are preg. not sure about the blood in urine.

There definitely should not be blood in your urine! Either you have misinterpreted what the nurse meant or she needs to go back to nursing college! A urine pregnancy test tests the amount of HCG (human chorionic gonadotrophin) in your urine, which would be very low on the first missed day. A more reliable way to test is a blood test, which tests the same hormone but can detect it reliably in much smaller amounts. If you ever do have blood in you urine you should see a doctor ASAP as it indicates a urinary tract infection and has NOTHING to do with periods and pregnancy.

A urine pregnancy test works if you are at least 2 weeks pregnant. Blood tests can tell a lot sooner.

i dont know about the blood in the urine except if its caused by infection. ablood test is more sensitive though and can detect pregnancy sooner.

I am guessing she was expecting to see tiny traces of blood from your expected menses. Probably trace amounts you wouldn't even notice. It wouldn't actually be from your urine, but still be in the urine catch. KWIM?

are you sure they told you are pregnant? blood in urine can indicate problems and a possible miscarriage but i have head of girls havinga period and still being pregnant and gave birth to perfect babies

sometimes if u have an infection they could see some blood in ur urin.problem thatw what she meant by samying no blood in ur urine.
