I am six months pregnant and currently looking for another job. However, I am not sure if I should disclose the fact that I am pregnant to the interviewer and at what point I would give this information. I don't plan to be out very long after having the baby, just long enough to get healed as our financial situation is a bit tight. Does anyone have any advice?

They cannot discriminate due to the fact you are pregnant. You, however are obligated to tell the potential employer before hand, otherwise they can choose not to hire you based on that. This is at least how it is in Minnesota. Better check your local laws to see if there is any difference.

Before you decide to switch jobs, if you have insurance check on that. If you are using insurance that your current employer offers you then you will be required to pay COBRA to keep it if you leave for another job. This is extremely expensive. If your husband covers you or you don't have insurance, than it doesn't matter.

Other than that, you should tell the prospective employer during the interview and be up front and honest with them about your intentions for maternity leave. Being only 3 months from giving birth will make it difficult for a job to see past that since they will have to find a temporary replacement for your time off. Also, depending on your line of work many companies put new hires on 90 days probation which would fall right at the time you were due to have the baby. This could mean you lose your job and they do have that right. They can let you go for any reason or no reason at all at that point. But you never know. It really depends on what kind of work you do and the company.

Best of luck!

I was 6 months pregnant when I applied for my dream job. I didn't disclose my pregnancy - they thought I was just a chubby young girl.

After about 2 months, and had to work less hours, my bosses were very disappointed that I didn't tell them that I was pregnant. They didn't say anything (very nice women), but I just got the vibes. I just kind of blew it off, like well, I thought I had mentioned it - and besides, I was visibly showing...

Obviously I was lying.

Anyways, I had to take an unexpected 12-week leave instead of a 6-week leave, due to a needed D&C procedure after I had given birth. This also put an added burden to my department.

After my leave, I decided to make up for the loss time, and exceeded so well in my job that I was rated #1 in my division for 3 years running. And when I left the company, they were all very sorry to see me go.

Most people will say that you should tell that you're pregnant. In all honesty, it is what is most moral. However, the job that you are applying for will more than likely turn you down. And they'll just say something like "we found another candidate to better suit our needs..."

I wouldn't chance it. If you have to work, don't tell.

you are not bound by any laws to tell your employer you are pregnant. i would advise waiting til after your baby is born to find a new job. getting a new job this far into your pregnancy only looks bad on you when you have to go on maternity leave in 3 months. quit your job you have now when you have your baby...you will have more luck finding a job after you have your baby since you won't have to be asking for a couple weeks off after the birth.

I would let them know at the interview as you are only a few months from having your baby. Just make sure you let them know that you only plan on taking a few weeks off.

i does no longer cover your abdomen because in the experience that they do employ you, and locate out later they could in all likelihood stumble on a fashion to fireside you for mendacity/hiding something. notwithstanding they couldn't deny hiring you because you're pregnant probability is in the experience that they are that hostile to it, they'll say it in simple terms wasnt a great fit. in simple terms flow in inclusive of your abdomen showing and do quite nicely inclusive of your interview. if you're what they're looking for, they received't even care about you being pregnant. solid success.

the best thing to do is, not work at all, or the best job is cashiering, tell the truth to the interviewer, they might give you the job anyway.

AFTER. You aren't protected by any employment laws if you're not employed.

But why are you looking for "another" job? Why not wait?
