I think at some point, the Cold War will be recognized as WWIII. And the War on Terror will be WWIV.

possibly because it was really a continuation of ww2.the axis powers were vanquished but was the war really settled? the soviets held the territory that they had occupied and so did America. It was sort of like O.K. what's going to happen next, the 2 big powers had enough of the shooting war and went to work on each other in clandestine ways. in a hundred years or so if anyone is left here they just might see it this way

It is a war when countries officially declare war on each other. It is called a Cold War because no countries declared war. Everyone was trying to be the bully on the block.
Same as Korea. It was called a Police Action. No one declared war. It was the Korean War however.

mainly the cold war was between the us and the soviet union. as you said we never had a battle. the world just wasn't very friendly with each other, due to communism.

Because we were not out there openly killing people. We did it all under-cover with spying and funneling money to other countries.
