To be honest. I'm experiencing the same scenario right now but it's with my mom. (And it's been 16 years since I last saw her!) I heard she has a new family but seeing how my dad really deals with situation and women, I'm kinda like seeing the other side of the fence.
Just don't be too biased and really analyze the situation. If the person really had a viable reason to leave his partner, or was just plain bitchy. Through the years my mind has been poisoned on how really bad my mom was but eventually I have heard different stories from people! I really did loath my mom before but now I'm having second thoughts and would really want the truth squeezed straight from the horse's mouth.

My father left when I was 3. I saw him off and on for the past 27 years. He told me he was sorry for everything that had happen and wishes he could go back. I don't mind he had 4 girls after me and he is taking care of him. Even thought he wasn't their for me I still had him walk me down the isle when I got married

Bad situations happen between a man and a woman. Of course children shouldn't suffer the impact, but usually do. But past is past...So, just talk free to your dad with respect and love,even start to build some relationship if you want, just one thing to remember, love never fails...past is past...
