Why does everyone keep saying the current situation will cause WW3?

I can't see any possible route to world war 3. Even if Israel nuked the enitre arab world I can't see it causing world war 3. World war 3 would require The USA and either China or Russia to fight against each other, and I fail to see how this current situation would lead to that. Neither China nor Russia cares enough about the Arabs to risk their own security.

Or do they?

I don't know. I honestly think that some poeple would be very happy if this were true. But, until I see a WWIII there aint no WWIII. I don't believe it til I see it and I don't These people have been fighting for years. At least I really hope that we don't have a WWIII cuz things are extremely sophisticated today and it won't be anything to shout about. It's not cool for all you people who would be glad this could happen. Are you kidding us?

Haven't u watched the news!! Russia are going 2 help Iran&lebanon 2 go against israel because russia wants 2 take control of a part of irans oil and if Russia gets involved the usa will get involved and then will cause WW3

China will protect its own oil interest, and Russia gets ALOT of money from Iran for both weapons systems and technology. Do you bet that if it comes down to it, that they might not join in.

Of course, China could also elect to take Taiwan while we were otherwise busy.
