If she can't be trusted to not take it from you, keep it on you all the time, hide it, or put it in a lock box.

if it were me... I would probably embarass the hell out of the littlke thief. It worked pretty well on my littel brother when he would steal my $hit. Depending on the age difference, simply talking might not work.
