There are a lot of programs like net nanny that would do it for you, but the best method of preventing your children from seeing inappropriate things on the internet is to surf with them. Responsible children are raised by responsible parents.

There are many programs that have the ablility to block particular web sites that you've chosen to block. One of the best I've found is called "SpywareBlaster" and is free. By typeing the name into Google's Search Box, it will give you several locations to choose from to get the download. Once installed, you can click on "tools" on the left side and then "Custom Blocking" tab at the top right. Click the "add" button and it will let you type in the websites that you wish to block, and it will never again allow those sites to even get into the computer at all. Some sites use different names which become variables to the original name and may sneak in so you may have to "add" a few variables to the list as well. Patience is the name of the game when it comes to blocking sites, good luck. Larry.

The material you are receiving is most likely spam. Find and download some anti-adware and anti-spam software and run it on your computer. None of them get everything on your computer but running several will get most of them. Some that I use often is AdAware from Lavasoft.com and Microsoft's AntiSpyware. Both are free and work pretty well. I also use Trend Micro's PC-cillan to catch things before they get on the computer. If all else fails you can go into the registry editor to find and delete the key that tells the computer to run those programs. This is a place you MUST be VERY comfortable with going into. You can seriously mess up your computer in the registry. Get professional help if you don't feel comfortable in the registry. Finally, when you do get your computer working properly again, stay out of those websites that put that stuff on your computer, and don't open email from people you don't know. Spammers are very good at getting their programs on other people's computers but you have to open something of theirs for them to access your stuff.

Stay away from porn sites, also delete cookies, browsing history and install a pop up blocker. If these don't work the use a different browser like Firefox, netscape, safari or opera. Most extreme is re-install OS.
